Tasting times during harvest

It’s harvest time so the farm’s focus is quite singular: turning grapes into juice and letting it become wine.

So, for the next little while our tastings and events will work as follows:

We’ll do a few Saturday tastings on:
28 Jan, 4, 11 and 25 February
starting at 10:00 | R150pp

Normal tasting lunches (Wed & Fridays at 11:30) will resume from 12th April onwards.

Farm events with tastings and a 3- course lunch will take place on

3 June
5 Aug

And last but definitely not least: Pizza night dates for next few months:

26 & 27 January

Another opportunity to visit us!

Our next monthly tasting lunch will take place on 24 August – your chance to see the lush winter landscape of the Swartland and explore all that Kalmoesfontein offers.

The day includes a tour of the cellar, a wine tasting, an introduction to our Agave Spirit, Caperitif and Swaan Cape Tonic as well as a 3 course farm lunch.

We start at 11:30 and it costs R500pp.

This takes place the day before Ayama (just on the south side of the Paardeberg) hosts their annual Artichoke Festival,

and on Friday night we’re playing some vinyls while making some of the famous Kalmoesfontein pizzas in our wood fire oven (2pizzas + a bottle of superlative vintage Secateurs for R300 limited to 30pax)… so why not make a weekend of it and come see what the platteland has to offer.

Unfortunately our accommodation is already fully booked, but to book for Friday or Saturday’s offerings contact Semma@aabadenhorst.com.

Swartland Heritage Celebration

It is true, come November there will once again be a unique regional wine experience to attend. Like at the very successful Swartland Revolution of the past the Swartland Independent Producers want to share the good food, stunning scenery and diverse (award winning) wine of the region with fans and friends. This time in the scenic West Coast town of Paternoster!

That’s right. International speakers, masterclasses, talks, tastings and music. And what the poster doesn’t tell you is that renowned local chef Bertus Basson has been confirmed as the weekend’s chef. Snacks, dinner, lunch…
