Our home in the Paardeberg has come a long way since we acquired the property in 2008. When we moved here the old cellar buildings had not been used for over 70 years. André, Adi’s dad, says it looked like ‘bombed Siberia’ and Cornelia almost cried at the sight of the very unstylish 1970s house that she now had to call home. But one thing was for sure, Kalmoesfontein was a renovator’s dream and our biggest challenge yet.
Today our homestead is looking better and better every day and in 2011 we starting using it for various events. In conjunction with Cornelia’s event styling business De Liefde, the farm was used as a venue for some interesting and stylish events. We hosted our first open day, a baby shower, a 40th birthday and a wedding in 2011 and hope to cater for many more beautiful occasions in the future.
For more info on events on the farm visit the De Liefde site.
You can also visit the farm and stay in our lovely winemaker’s cottage, have a look at Perfect Hideaways for more details.
