Here it is, the annual happy holidays Badenhorst Family Wines email (reposted as a blog here…) that I know you have all been waiting for…
At the risk of sounding old, allow me to say: where the hell has this year gone? Although, when I start to look at everything we got up to, everywhere we traveled and all the wines we drank, it kind of makes sense that this year just flew by in a blur.
Between the various mad members of the extended Badenhorst Family we traveled to the USA, Argentina, The UK, Scotland, Spain, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Greece, China, Jozi and ‘die weskus’ this year. Mostly it was work and wine related – in general we learned and experienced a lot and have been able to plough the inspiration back into our work, life and projects.
One highlight for everyone still takes place 20 minutes from Kalmoesfontein though. The 4th annual Swartland Revolution was possibly the best revolution yet.Click here to view some pictures and read all about it, many of you were there and we had a blast sharing some Swartland gees with you.
Kalmoesfontein continues to evolve as a venue (with numerous weddings, events and shoots taking place there throughout the year). You can view some of these on Cornelia’s De Liefde website.

In other news, we started brewing beer(!). You can like our Facebook page to be kept up to date, the official release of beer will happen towards the end of January 2014.
In the family there is a new cousin (Adi’s brother Charl and his wife Semma had a beautiful boy in early December), Samuel completed Grade 1 (with a certificate for being bright and friendly) and Ana is turning into the cutest little girl in the world… Decorating the Christmas tree with her last weekend renewed my faith in ‘the festive season’.
For now we pack our bags (and cooler boxes) and head towards the coast. The farm will be closed until early in the new year when we return for our harvest.
We hope you have all had an interesting year too, we wish to thank you (Baie Dankie!!) for your continued support and interest during 2013, we wish you a blessed holiday season.
Drink, but don’t drive…
Till the next one!
Helena (on behalf of all of us)
